The Honda CB500X has received significant upgrades in the international markets. This model is expected to arrive in the Indian market in late 2023.
For starters, the 2023 model is available in three paint options – Pearl Organic Green, Grand Prix Red, and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic. Then, Honda has also updated the suspension setup and unlike its predecessor, the new model comes with Showa SF-BPF inverted front forks. Meanwhile, the suspension duties at the rear are handled by a mono-shock.
Apart from the suspension, Honda has also revised the braking setup on the new model. While the previous version of the CB500X used a single 310mm disc at the front, the 2023 model comes with twin 296mm rotors. The rear continues to use a 240mm single disc while the safety net comprises a dual-channel ABS.
The Japanese two-wheeler maker has also managed to reduce the weight of the motorcycle by using lighter wheels. The 2023 model comes with a lighter front wheel that sheds 1kg off the total weight of the motorcycle. Further, the cast aluminium wheels are claimed to be more tensile than the units on the previous model.
Meanwhile, the mechanical specifications remain unchanged. Thus, the motorcycle retains the 471cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that delivers a maximum output of 47bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 43Nm at 6,500rpm. The 2022 model also gets a new radiator design that is claimed to be lighter than the old model.
The details about the India launch of the 2023 Honda CB500X are not available yet. However, with the previous model no longer available, we expect a launch announcement in the coming months. Similar to its predecessor, the 2023 model will most definitely carry a premium price tag. For reference, the older model was sold at Rs 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, the CB500X will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650, Triumph Tiger Sport 660, and Benelli TRK 502 in the Indian market.
