DESCRIPTION Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Standard

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is expected to launch in India in January 2024 in the expected price range of ₹ 11,00,000 to ₹ 12,00,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to V-Strom 800DE are Honda XL750 Transalp, BMW F850 GS & Triumph Tiger 900.

Suzuki Motorcycles has updated its portfolio with the addition of a new model, the V-Strom 800DE. This model will rival the likes of the KTM 890 Adventure and Yamaha Tenere in the international markets.

In terms of design, the new V-Strom 800DE gets a vertically-mounted twin-pod headlight, semi-fairing, beak-style front, adjustable windscreen, 20-litre fuel tank, step-up seat, wire-spoke wheels, engine sump guard, knuckle guards, and long travel suspension. The Japanese manufacturer will also offer optional accessories such as panniers, top box, tank bag, taller windscreen, heated grips, aluminium skid plate, and auxiliary lights to enhance the motorcycle’s touring capabilities. The optional extras will include crash bars, centre stand, low seat height, and brake pedal height adjuster.

The feature list comprises Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) with Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), bidirectional quickshifter, Ride-by-Wire throttle, traction control with Gravel mode, low RPM assist, and switchable ABS. It also comes equipped with full-LED lighting and a five-inch colour TFT LCD multifunction instrument panel.

The mechanical specifications on the V-Strom 800DE include a Euro5-compliant 776cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a 270-degree crankshaft design. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox and is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 22.7kmpl. The suspension tasks are handled by Showa-sourced upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock while the braking setup includes twin discs and a single rotor at the front and rear, respectively. Surprisingly, this adventure-tourer rides on wire-spoke wheels. In comparison, the V-Strom 650XT used tubeless-tyre compatible spoke units. The wheels on the V-Strom 800DE are shod in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour adventure tyres.

The company will offer this motorcycle in three colour options – Champion Yellow 2, Glass Matte Mechanical Gray, and Glass Sparkle Black.
