Triumph's flagship adventure motorcycle, the Tiger 1200 has received massive upgrades - mechanically as well as aesthetically.

For 2022, the British brand has equipped it with a new engine, new bodywork, new tech and even new naming conventions. The 1160cc inline-triple cylinder motor is brand new. The power has increased to 147bhp and all of it makes it at 9000rpm. This new figure makes it the most powerful shaft drive motorcycle in the class. The torque has one up by 8Nm to 130Nm. The Tiger 1200 is built around a new chassis which is 5.5kgs lighter than the previous model. The single-sided swingarm has made way for the new tri-link setup that has helped the brand save some weight here. More weight has been saved by using an aluminium fuel tank.

The GT which is a road-focused model gets a suspension travel of 200mm at front and back both. The Rally model gets a lot more travel due to the nature of its use. The GT runs on 19-inch front and 18-inch wheels at the back and gets Metzeler Tourance tyres. The Rally model on the otherhand gets 21/18 tubeless spoked combination and runs on Metzeler Karoo street tyres. For more hardcore use, there's the Michelin Anakee wild tyre on offer.

The British-brand has equipped this ADV with some new cool tech. There’s a radar system for blind-spot detection and lane assist. There are other electronics like IMU, traction control system, ABS, riding modes and also electronic suspension system. This Triumph is equipped with a new TFT display with integrated Bluetooth connectivity. This screen displays lots of ride information and the display themes can also be customized. In terms of cycle parts, the bike gets Brembo Stylema calipers with dual 320mm discs up front.

The new Tiger 1200 has been launched in India in four variants and it competes with the BMW 1250GS and the Ducati Multistrada V4.
