DESCRIPTION Yamaha MT-03 Standard

Yamaha MT-03 is expected to launch in India in December 2023 in the expected price range of ₹ 3,50,000 to ₹ 4,00,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to MT-03 are QJ Motor SRK 400, KTM 390 Duke [2022-2023] & KTM 390 Duke. Another bike similar to MT-03 is Benelli TNT 300 which is launching in November 2024 in India.

India Yamaha Motor will soon update its portfolio with the launch of the KTM 390 Duke-rivalling MT-03 in our market. This roadster-segment motorcycle was showcased to the dealer partners in India alongside the MT-07 and MT-09.

This motorcycle is based on the YZF-R3, and thus it shares the same underpinnings as its fully-faired sibling. However, the MT-03 carries a streetfighter design along with upright ergonomics. Other styling elements comprise a projector-style headlight with LED DRLs, a muscular fuel tank, a split-style seat, a side-slung exhaust, and 17-inch split-style alloy wheels on both ends. The feature list comprises full-LED lighting, a fully-digital instrument cluster, and a dual-channel ABS. The instrument console houses the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, tachometer, fuel gauge, and gear position indicator.

The mechanical specifications will be similar to the YZF-R3, and thus the MT-03, too, uses a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this engine makes 42bhp and 29.6Nm on the international-spec model. We expect to see similar numbers on the India-bound version. Meanwhile, the suspension tasks will be handled by upside-down telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock, and single-disc brakes on both wheels. Then, the 17-inch alloy wheels are shod in 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres.

The Yamaha MT-03 is expected to arrive in the Rs. 3.7 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the KTM 390 Duke and the BMW G 310 R in India.
