These best-selling cars are the torch bearers in their respective segments in the Indian automobile industry.

 

The Indian automakers have traveled a long journey since the seventy-five years after the country’s independence. Despite having global competitors in the market, the automotive industry of India has secured its position in terms of technology, safety, and performance. Here we have mentioned some of the top-selling cars in their respective series.

 

Tata Tiago

 

It is an entry-level hatchback with the best equipment in the segment. It has 15-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch infotainment screen, projector headlamps, and an audio system with eight speakers. The company also gives a CNG option, which is usually not available in this segment. Probably, the Tata Tiago is the safest car among its rivals as it has received a four-star rating by Global NCAP.

 

Tata Tigor

 

It is a sub-compact sedan variant of the Tiago. It is the only car in its segment, which has all-electric, CNG, and petrol powertrains options.

 

The Tigor EV provides a range of around 300 km.

 

It makes the car a green alternative to its ICE competitors. This car has similar features to that of the Tata Tiago. Moreover, it also has achieved a 4- star rating by the GNCAP in the crash test.

 

Tata Nexon

 

Currently, it is the best-selling SUV in the Indian automobile market. In recent months, it has dominated the segment of sub-compact SUVs in India. It became the first car in India to achieve a 5-star rating from GNCAP, and that too without any exclusive safety features. Moreover, it is the only Indian car that is available with electric, diesel, and turbo-petrol engines. Its electric version gives a range of around 400 km.

 

Tata Punch

 

With the production of Tata Punch, the company carved out a new segment. This model has the style of an SUV, bigger than the Renault Kwid and smaller than the Tata Nexon. It has received a 5-star safety rating from the Global NCAP.

 

Mahindra XUV 300

 

This car is a subcompact SUV. It is the first model of Mahindra to achieve a five-star rating from the Global NCAP in the crash test. Also, it was the first car to have parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, steering modes, and heated ORVMs, in its segment.

 

Mahindra Thar

 

The automaker has dominated the market of off-roader vehicles in India with the launch of the second-generation Thar. The rugged style of this vehicle globally appeals with its 4x4 drive-train. Its style makes it capable even in the wild. The company has introduced a modification in the new Thar, which makes it more comfortable. New features include a fixed roof, a seven-inch infotainment panel, automatic transmission, manual AC, and both options of diesel and petrol engines.

 

Mahindra XUV 700

 

Though it was difficult to compete with the XUV 500, Mahindra did its best by launching XUV 700. It is a mid-size SUV with a premium and bold style. Its other features include ADAS and a turbo-petrol engine with a capacity of 2 liters.
