DESCRIPTION Mahindra XUV700 MX Petrol MT 5 STR

Variants:

The Mahindra XUV700 is offered in two variant options; MX and AX Series. While both series’ get petrol and diesel powertrain options, the MX only gets a manual box. The AX Series, on the other hand, is available in three trims — AX3, AX, and AX7. Setting the AX apart though is its availability in both manual and automatic transmissions, along with an AWD option for the top-end automatic version.

Market introduction:

Mahindra announced prices for its top-of-the-range model, the XUV700, on 30 September, 2021.

Engine and specifications:

The MX Series is available with either a 195bhp/380Nm 2.0-litre Turbo GDi mStallion petrol engine or a 153bhp/360Nm 2.2-litre Commonrail Turbo diesel mHawk engine; both of which only use a six-speed manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the AX Series uses the familiar 195bhp/380Nm 2.0-litre Turbo GDi mStallion petrol engine but this time around is available with both a manual and an automatic gearbox. Interestingly, although the 2.2-litre Commonrail Turbo diesel mHawk engine makes 182bhp, the torque output varies. While manual transmission makes 420Nm, the automatic produces a considerably higher 450Nm.

Exterior design:

The first model in the company’s portfolio to receive the new brand logo, the XUV700 flaunts its shapely black grille that’s tastefully flanked by large headlamps and canine-shaped LED DRLs. Even the rear profile is adorned with arrow-like LED tail lamps. Other highlights include the futuristic door handles and power-adjustable ORVMs with built-in turn indicators. While the MX Series and the AX3 variant get 17-inch steel wheels, the AX5 and AX7 variants get 17-inch and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, respectively.

Interior and features:

Depending on the variant, the XUV700’s interior adorns leatherette on its seats while leather finds its way onto the steering and gear lever. Base variants, such as the MX Series, are offered with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and a seven-inch instrument cluster. Alternatively, the AX Series gets a dual HD 10.25-inch infotainment system alongside a 10.25-inch digital cluster. Likewise, top-tier XUV700 versions are loaded with contemporary features such as Wireless Android Auto, AdrenoX Connect with 70 connected features, six-way power seats (with memory), and much more.

Colours:

The MX variant is available in four colour options: Everest White, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver, and Red Rage. The AX Series, whereas, gets an additional ‘Electric Blue’ shade.

Seating capacity:

The MX Series has a five-seat layout while the AX Series gets either a five-seat or a seven-seat configuration depending on the variant.

Rivals:

The Mahindra XUV700 locks horns with the Tata Safari and Harrier, the MG Hector and Hector Plus, plus, the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar.
