DESCRIPTION TATA Safari XE

Variants

The Tata Safari is available in nine variants - XE, XM, XMA, XT, XT Plus, XZ, XZ Plus, XZA and XZA Plus.

Market introduction

Tata has brought back its flagship nameplate, the Safari with a completely new SUV. Tata Safari uses some elements of Land Rover’s D8 platform and Tata has named it OMEGARC. It shares this platform with the Harrier SUV.

Engine and Specifications

This SUV is 4,661mm in length and has a wheelbase. It is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque and it is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Features

The Safari has been fitted with HID Xenon projector headlamp units along with DRLs. Similarly, it features dual-LED stripe tail lamps. The Safari has 18-inch alloy wheels as standard for most top-spec models.

In the cabin, Tata has fitted the car with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets iRA connected car tech for remote smartphone connectivity.

Additionally, the SUV comes with a cooled glovebox, seven-inch TFT colour display in the instrument cluster, nine-speaker JBL sound system (Only for selected models) and ambient lighting. Tata offers various features such as six airbags, hill hold control, rollover mitigation, corner stability control, four discs brakes, cruise control, auto dimming rear-view mirror, auto headlamps and wipers and a panoramic sunroof.

Colours

It is available in five paint options - Royal Blue, Tropical Mist, Daytona Grey, Orcus White and Tropical Mist Adventure. The Safari has dual-tone interiors - Black and White. Tata has given Oyster White leather upholstery for the seats.

Seating capacity

This SUV is available in six and seven seat configuration that depends upon the variant. Also, there is an Adventure model that features a black grille, roof rails and alloy wheels.

Rivals

The Tata Safari is a rival for the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and future versions of the Mahindra XUV700 that will be offered with a seven-seat layout.
